FASDogs is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising and training service dogs specifically tailored to support individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Through a network of dedicated puppy raisers, volunteers, and a committed core committee, FASDogs aims to provide highly trained service dogs to assist and enhance the lives of individuals affected by FASD. Our program will focus on comprehensive training, specialized care, and ongoing support for both the service dogs and their families.
Krista has had a life-long love of all animals. She also felt called to adopt from a very young age, and believed she would have both biological and adopted children in her family one day.
Krista and David have adopted 14 children. Along with all of the joy of parenting came a whole alphabet soup of diagnoses and challenges from adopting children from hard places. In 2011, while in the process of adopting 2 babies from Russia, she became immersed into the world of FASD and started to learn all she could about it.
Fast forward to 2020 as she became aware of the great need for purpose-bred service dogs. In the beginning Krista raised and bred dogs to be potential service dogs, after meeting and working with Savannah to help evaluate and partially train some dogs for that task.
After over 40 dogs were placed and trained by others to be service dogs, she was encouraged by Kathryn Meinhardt of Dream Acres to consider starting a service dog organization of her own. In 2023 FASDogs was officially born.
While Krista is still a homeschooling mom and raising puppies is her great love, she feels all the combined education and knowledge she has gained through the years has led to FASDogs. It has become her life’s mission to help provide service dogs to those with a disability who need the help of an organization and can’t or don’t wish to self train their own dog.
Savannah Moore is a Service Dog Trainer dedicated to empowering handlers and their future companions at FASDogs. Her passion is deeply personal: her first service dog, Lady, was the initial inspiration and proof of the life-changing power of this work.
As a handler herself with a background in education, Savannah brings both personal experience and teaching expertise to the mission of the organization. She grew up loving dogs and is passionate about helping others achieve the independence a well-trained service dog team can provide
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are a group of conditions that happen as a result of alcohol intake during pregnancy. These conditions can cause problems with learning, behavior, and physical development. A person with FASD might have trouble with school, get frustrated easily, and could have differences in how their face looks. FASD lasts a person’s whole life.
We help individuals with FASD by providing service dogs that are specially trained to help them in their daily lives. Our dogs offer support, help reduce stress, and can assist with tasks, making life easier for their handlers. FASDogs offers these service dogs at low cost. We count on donations from caring people like you to sustain our program. If you’re passionate about improving the lives of people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, we encourage you to donate.
If so, please fill out our FASDogs Service Dog application. We will be in touch within 24-72 hours!
